Event Details
The Disney Wishables Artist Series Product Launch with Alex Maher will take place on January 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at The Art of Disney in Disney Springs.
About the Artist
Alex Maher was born in Miami, Florida and began drawing as a young child. By the age of 5, Alex knew that he wanted to work for The Walt Disney Company. His career began as an illustrator-draftsman for the US Navy and, after his time in the service, Alex held various positions as a graphic artist and illustrator in his hometown. With encouragement from his parents and his wife, he moved his family to Orlando in the summer of 1991 to turn his aspirations of becoming a Disney artist into a reality. Today, he works full time as a senior character artist.
Alex has always been fascinated by trains, especially vintage steam locomotives. He shares this affinity for railroads with Walt Disney himself. While planning Disneyland Park, Walt once said, “I just want it to look like nothing else in the world, and it should be surrounded by a train.” When deciding which character Alex wanted to design, Mickey Mouse as a train conductor was a given!
